This section allows users to evaluate and assign new rankings for each risk category, ensuring a structured approach to analyzing failures and their effects. The selected rankings, along with their justifications, contribute to comparing failure risks before and after mitigation.
Unlike the Risk Assessment, the FMEA Risk Analysis focuses on New Severity, New Occurrence, and New Detectability rankings, which are later used to compare against the initial Risk Assessment values.
Each ranking is determined based on predefined assessment criteria from the Risk Assessment Type Definition and is automatically pulled from the selected in the FMEA. This ensures consistency across evaluations while maintaining traceability between the initial risk assessment and the post-mitigation analysis.
Ranking Criteria:
New Severity: Low (Ranking 1), Medium (Ranking 2), & High (Ranking 3)
New Occurrence: Low (Ranking 1), Medium (Ranking 2), & High (Ranking 3)
New Detectability: Low (Ranking 3), Medium (Ranking 2), & High (Ranking 1)
The information provided in this section is crucial for recalculating the Risk Priority Number (New RPN), allowing for a direct comparison between the initial RPN from the Risk Assessment and the new RPN from the FMEA.
